Name a shoegaze band that isn't My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Slowdive, Astrobrite, Pinkshinyultrablast, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Kraus, Ringo Deathstarr or any of the army of Japanese bands that have covered Loveless.
Deafheaven doesn't count. Alcest doesn't count. The Jesus and Mary Chain doesn't count. Beach House doesn't count. That one Alvvays song that kinda sounds sludgy doesn't count. Those aren't shoegaze bands, they're shoegaze-influenced.

Ceres is generally considered Any Forumscore and it was anything anyone ever talked about from 2014 to like 2018. Granted, talk has died down a lot but it's still Any Forumscore nonetheless.

serious question: why has a 30 year old subgenre that barely got any traction in its heyday other than with a handful of timid bongs become an obsession for Any Forums?
Obsession is a big word, but the millennial era music blog and forum culture coinciding with increased home internet speeds and the ease of digitization of music led to a wave of 'discovering lost bands', and shoegaze has just reaped the benefits of it the most of any genre. It was very much doomed musical classification that was killed by the more commercial Britpop in the UK, and it was the natural progression for American hipsters 15ish years ago that were drinking the koolaid of independent, maligned, and obscure artists.
A place to bury strangers, SPC ECO, and you actually missed a bunch of dreampop bands that aren't really shoegaze but that you should have included since you think dreampop is shoegaze

Why don't more shoegaze bands experiment with extreme vocals? The other thread got my interest piqued
